Registration and Auditions for 2008-2009
We are currently beginning
our new registration process for the coming year. All returning
members and young people hoping to apply and audition for the CVYO
should go to:
www.cvyo.info
and fill out either the Registration tab (for
returning members) or the New Auditions tab
(for new applicants).
Please fill out the information
completely and submit it. This will let us know if you plan on
participating next year and save us all a lot of time as we capture
your data electronically.
All auditions take place at
Westminster Presbyterian Church, Fellowship Hall.
Audition times for Returning
Members and New Applicants have not been determined as of yet, but
we will notify you as soon as that information becomes available, if
you have completed the registration forms on-line.
PLACEMENT IS DETERMINED BY
TECHNICAL ABILITY AND SPACE AVAILABLE. SCHEDULE CONFLICTS WILL NOT
BE A DETERMINING FACTOR FOR PLACEMENT. ACCEPTANCE & PLACEMENT IS AT
THE SOLE DISCRETION OF THE CONDUCTORS. FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
ABOUT THE ORCHESTRAS, CLICK ON THE ORCHESTRA TAB AT THE HOME PAGE.
NEW MUSICIANS ONLY:
You must make an appointment:
Go to
www.CVYO.info and
completing the "New Auditions" tab.
This will allow us to contact you when more information is
available.
Or call 805-523-8045 and leave a
message.
Musicians will be asked to play a
scale of their choice 1, 2 or 3 octaves, a short prepared piece and
sight-reading. It is important that you prepare something that shows
your technical ability in order that we may place you in the
appropriate orchestra. Woodwinds & brass must be at least of middle
school age and perform at a level well above a beginning level. The
music selected for your audition should be of a classical nature.
The audition will take 5 to 10 minutes. If you are chosen to
participate, you will be given instructions at that time on how to
register.
RETURNING MUSICIANS:
All returning musicians MUST play
for Mr. Benson & Mrs. Sanchez. Dates and times will be made
available later. If you are not 18 years old at the time of the
audition, you will need a parent or guardian present to complete
your registration. If you do not contact us either through
www.cvyo.info or
by phone, your spot may be filled and/or you will be placed behind
those who have auditioned.
ALL RETURNING
MUSICIANS MUST REGISTER on the
given dates. If you are out of town, you MUST contact Mr.
Benson and make special arrangements. Due to the large amount of new
musician audition requests, it is an absolute must that you follow
these instructions or risk not being accepted. NO SHOW, NO CALL or
E-MAIL will open your spot for new musicians.
SPACE IS LIMITED!!!!!
History of CVYO
The Conejo Valley Youth Orchestra was founded
in 1961 by Betty Bowen, at California Lutheran University, Thousand Oaks,
California and is dedicated to the study and performance of contemporary orchestral literature and
providing music education and performance opportunities for musically talented youth.
Under the guidance of Artistic
Director/Conductor Maestro Bill Benson our program continues to develop and
enhance the music education of local students and to provide symphonic
orchestral music experience as a supplement to music education in the schools.
Perfomances are held at the Fred
Kavali Theatre at the Thousand Oaks Civic Center.
